Mix 4 RSi Trichomes are hairlike structures that naturally form on the surface of leaves and stems of certain plant species. Trichomes are grown to protect the plant from various stressors in the environment, such as insects, pathogens and water loss. Added aggregate increases the porosity of the mix, which is essential for allowing water and air to pass through the growing media. The additional flow of water and air into growing media allows for healthy and vigorous root growth. RESiLIENCE (TM) helps deliver additional silicon to plants. Silicon is a beneficial plant nutrient that has been scientifically proven to enhance plant's ability to overcome stress. Silicon has been shown to reduce the stress from drought, heavy metal toxicity, salt stress and more. Sunshine Mix can expand up to 2 times during use. Greater expansions is indicative of the quality of peat used in the mix coarser, high quality peat moss will expand more and create an overall more porous and well-structured mix.
